Professional Staff
Pet Resort Manager Erin Taylor has worked for the pet resort since 2012. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Missouri, is a member of the International Boarding and Pet Services Association and is Fear Free Certified. She has a strong interest in dog behavior and training, as well as gentle handling techniques. In her off time, she enjoys training and competing with her dogs in a variety of sports, including agility, rally obedience, and Fast CAT.
Erin trains and leads a team of dedicated and attentive pet lovers who pamper the dog boarding guests with attention and TLC. All Pet Resort staff are trained in basic pet care and safety, disease prevention, and animal behavior. They participate in regular meetings and training activities and become quite knowledgeable and experienced in caring for pets.
Whether your pet is outgoing and loves to play, or shy and needs a gentle touch, the staff are there to meet all their needs and to make them as happy as possible during their visit.
Veterinarians On Site
The Pet Resort staff is trained to routinely monitor boarding dogs carefully, keeping records of appetite, urination, bowel movements, and watching closely for signs of a health concern. If there is ever a problem while your dog is boarding, our veterinarians are just steps away under the same roof at Blue Springs Animal Hospital. Our animal hospital is inspected and accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association and is a national award-winning hospital recognized for excellence in upholding AAHA quality of care standards.
Care For Special Medical Needs
We are able to provide boarding care for dogs with special medical needs, such as oral medications, eye or ear medications, SQ fluids, insulin injections, and most other types of medical care. We will provide two oral, ear, or eye medications per pet for no additional charge. More than 2 medications or other types of more complex treatments require additional staff time and documentation and will incur a small additional daily fee.
We provide significant extra care and observation for boarding diabetic dogs. Insulin injections are administered by our Registered Veterinary Technicians or Veterinarians after verifying that the dog is eating and feeling well. Diabetic care for dogs with insulin injections will incur an additional daily fee and blood sugar testing (if required) may also incur an extra charge.
Please make us aware of any special medical concerns or treatments when booking your dog boarding reservations. Current pricing information is available on our Policies and Fees page and will also be quoted when making your reservation.
Pampered Pet Playscool
The resort offers a 1,000 sq foot indoor activity center for the enjoyment of our canine boarders. Each morning and afternoon pets can vent excess energy, develop positive social skills, and hang out with the gang!
Activities include playing ball, chasing bubbles, and learning to slipper slide! Some summer days may also include splashing in the toddler pool. Of course, campers often invent their own games too – chase my tail, chase your tail, and chase the gang around and around and around the room are popular.
The group play sessions are led and constantly supervised by one of our fun-loving Pet Resort Counselors. The counselors are alert and monitor the body language and interactions between the dogs, striving to help all of the dogs get along and have fun.
For the safety of all the campers, a pet who repeatedly behaves aggressively toward other pets or the Pet Resort staff will be removed from Pampered Pet Playschool. If a dog seems fearful or is not having fun, a counselor will encourage them and give them some time to overcome their shyness and participate. Most dogs learn to love playtime, and it is an excellent way to socialize puppies who are fearful and shy. If a dog continues to dislike the activities after ample time to acclimate, we will recommend removal from playtime.
Pampered Pet Playschool is complimentary when pets stay in a cabin and can be selected if desired when making a reservation. For a small additional fee pets staying in rooms or bunks can join in the fun too!!
Dogs older than 7 months of age must be spayed or neutered to play with other dogs in Playtime.

Upscale Accommodations
Blue Springs Pet Resort offers several dog boarding options from which to choose depending upon your pet’s size and temperament.
Cabins
When you choose a cabin your pet will stay in one of our spacious luxury rooms with a view, a comfy bed, and a TV playing animal themed movies. If selected your pet can also have a blast playing with other pets in complimentary morning and evening sessions of Pampered Pet Playschool! Up to 3 dogs may share a cabin with the 2nd and 3rd occupant receiving a discount off the standard cabin rate.
Rooms
We offer custom built Resort Rooms with an elevated bed and space for your pet to stretch their legs. Standard dog boarding rooms are 3×6 ft and family rooms for large or multiple pets are 4×9 feet. Up to 3 dogs may share a room with the 2nd and 3rd occupant receiving a discount off the standard room rate. Room occupants may participate in Pampered Pet Playschool for an additional fee.
Bunks
For small dogs who seek the security of their crate, you may opt for a cozy Bunk. Bunks are an average of 36 cubic inches in size and can accommodate dogs up to 35#. Toy breeds especially seem to feel snug and secure cuddled up in their own bunk.Occupancy is limited to one per bunk. Bunk occupants may participate in Pampered Pet Playschool for an additional fee.
Why don't we offer indoor/outdoor runs?
We are often asked the question and the answer is simple. We believe we provide better care for your pet by keeping them in a climate controlled, clean, pest free environment. Many days in Missouri the outdoors is not that pleasant! It would be impossible to effectively control the climate and prevent disease carrying insects from invading our facility with that many portals into our building.
Also, in many facilities with indoor/outdoor runs the pets receive little care and attention. They are shut in to clean outdoors and out to clean indoors. We believe human contact and attention is important! Our guests enjoy and look forward to their leash walks and interaction with our counselors!
Outdoor Leash Walks And Daily Routine
Every boarding dog, regardless of accommodations, is leash walked outdoors by a staff member at least twice per day, early in the morning and again in the evening. For a small additional fee pets can also go on a mid-day walk with a staff member to stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh air.
During the morning and evening walking times, each dog receives individual attention. The staff roll a supply cart to each kennel (like a maid cart at a hotel) and care for all the pet’s needs, including feeding, fresh water, medications, and cleaning.
If your pet is participating in Pampered Pet Playtime he/she will have a session in the morning and again in the afternoon with nap time between play sessions.
Cleanliness And Sanitation
All dog boarding accommodations are kept clean and sanitized with our central power wash system. The power wash mixes an antibacterial detergent with water to clean and disinfect walls and floors. Water and waste are collected in the drainage system running behind each kennel which can be flushed several times per day to carry waste and odors out of the building.
We have a commercial dishwasher (like those used in school cafeterias) to wash and disinfect bowls, toys, and other items. For bedding and towels, we use a commercial washer and dryer.
We maintain healthy air and odor control with 9 separate heating and air conditioning systems and separate exhaust fans for each room.
Our staff is educated and trained in the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment for our guests!
Fine Dining And Treats
We strongly recommend that you bring your pet’s regular food to avoid the tummy upset that can occur with sudden diet changes. If you choose to have us furnish the food, your pet will be fed premium quality dry kibble that is recommended by our veterinarians. The daily boarding rate is the same whether we feed your food or our food.
If you bring your pet’s regular food, please bring only an amount appropriate for the length of the stay. Dry food should be transferred into zip lock bags or a plastic container. Do not bring the original bag. Please allow us to provide dishes for your pet. Our dishes are custom fit to a special holder and can be sanitized in our commercial dishwasher.
Our staff likes to give out treats! You may bring treats for your pet or we have an assortment of fun treats that we offer for a small additional price. Our treat selection for our canine friends may include:
- Pupsicles (various types of frozen broth or yogurts with peanut butter, honey, or fruit)
- Pup cups (low sugar whipped topping with a cinnamon sprinkle or low sugar ice cream)
- Cheesy crackers or special cookies
- Other creative and yummy dog treats
If your pet is on a special diet, please let us know and we will not give treats unless you bring treats appropriate for their special needs.
Bedding, Toys, and Personal Items
We recommend that you allow us to provide bedding. We provide synthetic wool bedding custom sized for your pet’s accommodations. Our bedding is laundered daily in our commercial washer and dryer. If you know your dog will chew bedding, please warn us.
If you choose to bring personal bedding please only bring a washable item the pet can have unsupervised. Personal bedding will be washed in our commercial washer and dryer during your pet’s stay.
We provide toys during group playtime sessions which can be washed and sanitized in our dishwasher. If you bring personal toys, please only bring washable items the pet can have unsupervised in their kennel.
ALL PERSONAL ITEMS MUST BE LABELED IN PERMANENT MARKER WITH YOUR LAST NAME AND YOUR PET'S NAME. WE DO OUR BEST TO RETURN ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS, BUT AT TIMES THINGS GET MISPLACED OR – UGGGH – CHEWED TO SHREDS. We cannot be responsible for personal items that your pet chews up. You may not get everything back!!
Spa Bubble Bath
If you would like for your pet to go home freshly bathed we can pamper them with a bubble bath in our doggie salon before they are picked up. Pets often get a little dirty (and smelly) especially if they have been wrestling around having fun with other dogs in playtime. We provide a discount off our normal bath prices for our boarding friends. Exit baths include a refreshing bubble bath in the spa with light brushing, a nail trim, and ear cleaning. We will also express the anal glands if needed or requested.
If you would like for your pet to have a Premium Bath and/or Low Shed treatment before going home this will need to be arranged in advance. We have limited availability for Premium Baths and the service is only offered on specific days. For best results Premium Baths should be scheduled on the day the pet is going home and the pet should be picked up between 4-6 PM. You can schedule your Premium Bath separately when making your boarding reservation online, or contact us and we will help you make the arrangements. You can read more about the Premium Baths and Low Shed on the bathing services page.
Preventative Health Requirements
Blue Springs Pet Resort has strict health requirements for all boarding pets for a very good reason – we are committed to keeping your pet safe and healthy! If we failed to require protection against contagious diseases and parasites, we could not promise your pet the safest environment possible. Our standards are high, but we hope you will see that as a strong advantage to boarding your pet with us.
All dogs in the Pet Resort facility must be current on our required routine preventative health care. If your pet is under the care of another veterinary hospital, please upload a copy of the records/receipt when making your reservations. Pets will not be admitted without proof of vaccinations and parasite testing. Please refer to the Policies and Fees page for specific information.
Note:
Puppies must be 8 weeks of age and have their first Disptemper/Parvo, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and fecal test prior to their first visit to the Pet Resort. It is important for puppies to complete the puppy series for all of our required services to establish adequate protection and continue visiting the resort.
