Doggie Day Care is the ANSWER!
Pampered Pet Playtime
At Blue Springs Pet Resort your dog can spend the day playing and meeting new friends. It’s just like daycare for kids – only no diapers!
Doggie day care includes a morning and afternoon session of Pampered Pet Playtime in our 1,000 sq foot indoor activity center. The pets can vent excess energy, develop positive social skills with our staff and other dogs, and hang out with the gang!
Activities during playtime include playing ball, chasing bubbles, and learning to slipper slide! Some summer days may also include splashing in the toddler pool. Of course, guests often invent their own games too – chase my tail, chase your tail, and chase the gang around and around and around the room are popular.
Mid-day each pet retires to their own private room or bunk to relax and take a nap. By the end of the day, they will go home tired but happy and they will look forward to their next visit!! Our regular daycare pets LOVE to come to the vet!
Pampered Pet Playtime sessions are led and constantly supervised by one of our fun loving Counselors. For the safety of all the guests, aggressive pets will not be allowed in Pampered Pet Playschool. Dogs older then 7 months must be spayed or neutered to participate.
If a dog seems fearful or is not having fun, a counselor will encourage them and give them some time to overcome their shyness and participate. Most dogs learn to love playtime, and it is an excellent way to socialize puppies who are fearful and shy. If a dog continues to dislike the activities after ample time to acclimate, we will recommend removal from playtime. Dogs who do not participate in playtime will have a private room or bunk with a mid-day outdoor leash walk with one of our staff.
Seasonal Treats and Activities
We offer a variety of fun seasonal events and special treats for our boarding and daycare guests. Dates and specifics vary and will typically be announced on our Facebook page. Examples from the past include:
- Valentines day treats and pictures
- Easter egg hunt with hidden eggs filled with treats
- Summer fun pool parties
- Chiefs tailgate parties
- First day of school pictures and "sack lunch" treat bags
- Christmas parties and treats
- Halloween costume parties and pumpkin pupcakes
Puppy Socialization
Daycare is an excellent way to provide socialization for your puppy. During the day the puppy will be handled and loved by multiple people. The experience of visiting the facility and participating in playtime activities will boost your puppy’s confidence and help him or her adjust to new situations more easily in the future.
Puppies will meet many other dogs and learn valuable social skills which help develop a mannerly attitude toward other pets as an adult.
Professional Staff
Pet Resort Manager Erin Taylor has worked for the pet resort since 2012. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Missouri, is a member of the International Boarding and Pet Services Association and is Fear Free Certified. She has a strong interest in dog behavior and training, as well as gentle handling techniques. In her off time, she enjoys training and competing with her dogs in a variety of sports, including agility, rally obedience, and Fast CAT.
Erin trains and leads a team of dedicated and attentive pet lovers who pamper the daycare guests with attention and TLC. All Pet Resort staff are trained in basic pet care and safety, disease prevention, and animal behavior. They participate in regular meetings and training activities and become quite knowledgeable and experienced in caring for pets and supervising playtime to ensure a fun and safe experience.
Whether your pet is outgoing and loves to play, or shy and needs a gentle touch, the staff are there to meet all their needs and to make them as happy as possible during their daycare visit.
Spa Services
If you would like for your pet to be bathed during a daycare visit we can pamper them with a visit to our doggie salon. If they are participating in Pampered Pet Playtime they will go to their morning play session and then to the salon to be bathed. They will not play in the afternoon playtime session and will only be charged for a half day of daycare.
Bathing services will need to be arranged in advance as we have limited availability. You can schedule your bathing services separately when making your daycare reservation online, or contact us and we will help you make the arrangements. You can read more about our various bathing services on the bathing services page.
PREVENTATIVE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
Blue Springs Pet Resort has strict health requirements for a very good reason – we are committed to keeping your pet safe and healthy! If we failed to require protection against contagious diseases and parasites, we could not promise your pet the safest environment possible. Our standards are high, but we hope you will see that as an advantage to utilizing our facility.
All dogs in Daycare must be current on our required routine preventative health care. Please refer to the Policies and Fees page for specific information.
If your pet is under the care of another veterinary hospital, please upload a copy of the records/receipt when making a reservation. Pets will not be admitted without proof of vaccinations and parasite testing.
Note:
Puppies must be 8 weeks of age and have their first Disptemper/Parvo, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and fecal test prior to their first visit to the Pet Resort. It is important for puppies to complete the puppy series for all of our required services to establish adequate protection and continue visiting the resort.
Dogs older than 7 months of age must be spayed or neutered to play with other dogs in Playtime.
Hours & Fees
Regular daycare hours are 7 AM to 6 PM, but with advance notice a staff member will meet you as early as 6:30 AM so you can drop your pet off on your way to work.
You may purchase Daycare for your pet one day at a time or take advantage of our Multi-day Cards for frequent guests.
Visit the Policies and Fees page for more information about health requirements, policies, and fees for Doggie Daycare.
Customer Reviews for Doggie Daycare at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort near Kansas City
We have been taking our little guys to daycare at BSAHPR for almost one year, and they absolutely love it! Everyone on staff provides attentive, personal care! In addition, Dr. Rodier is our veterinarian and is exceptional, which not only makes things very convenient but also provides exceptional peace-of-mind should anything happen and care be needed.
My dog attends daycare here at least twice a week and LOVES it. Always comes home worn out from playing with all his friends. Definitely a good way to burn your pups energy while you’re at work. Plus they post pictures of the play sessions on their Facebook!
Couldn't ask for a better place for our fur babies! Daycare, boarding, doctors appts...all in one place!
I always use this vet even though they’re 45 minutes away. I like the veterinarian and they are very responsive. Luna enjoys the day care and so far it is the only place I trust with my one year old pup.
I love going to Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort! We go there for our dogs care as well as sending her to daycare occasionally. Everyone from the medical side and pet resort side have been nothing but extremely friendly. Sometimes if my dog is a little agitated while waiting the ladies at reception will come and bring her a treat to make her feel a little more comfortable. Our dog has had a few times where she needed to get last minute appointments in. Each time they were able to get us in the same day. We usually are not able to see our regular doctor on those appointments but every doctor is very friendly and treats our dog like they have known her forever. Even if we moved away from Blue Springs we would drive out of our way to bring our dog here.
